The months since the last tournament have seen some of our greatest numbers of requests for shoes and clothing gift cards from local schools and agencies. We definitely need a strong, successful fundraising tournament to keep helping as many children as we can in the Santa Maria Valley. We hope you will join us as a golfer, sponsor, volunteer or supporter to make the 19th annual Shoes for Students golf tournament the best yet.
Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the most up-to-date information and details about the tournament.
Thank you for your support and generosity through the years!
It's that time of year again. Moving forward with all the plans and activities for the 2018 Shoes for Students Golf Tournament and dinner. We are SO EXCITED this year to have some returning sponsors and some new ones. Our community really steps up when needed to support children.
Huge thanks to the sponsors that have already joined us to make a difference:
There are still a number of opportunities to help out financially or with your time, materials and skills. Please call Maggie White at (805) 361-8113 if you are interested in volunteering or supporting our efforts to make sure that all children are happy, healthy, confident learners.
The Shoes for Students golf tournament committee and volunteers are hard at work making sure that the 2017 tournament will be even better than last year's (and last year's was pretty great!).
We are excited to bring new sponsor and supporter Life Purpose Boot Camp on board. LPBC has made several donations to Shoes for Students and will be helping to make the tournament a fun day for everyone.
The famous gas raffle tickets are now available. For $20, you get FIVE chances to win $2,000 in gas gift cards (national chains). Who doesn't need free gas? You don't have to be present to win, but we'd LOVE to have you at our post-golf dinner where we draw the winner. The Santa Maria Country Club provides a delicious meal, the company is excellent and you'll be doing your part to help children in our community. Dinner tickets are $35 each.
Contact Maggie at (805) 361-8113 for a golf registration flyer, raffle tickets, dinner tickets or ways you can donate your time, energy and expertise to help. Supporting Shoes for Students means you are supporting children in the Santa Maria Valley.
Hi folks! Wow! The 2016 tournament was a great success and a lot of fun. We raised more than $30,000 to buy shoes and clothes for children in the Santa Maria Valley. The generosity of our sponsors and our donors means that we can keep serving local students for another year.
I really want to thank our most dedicated tournament sponsors who helped us start our 2016 fundraising off on the right foot:
Fidelity National Title Central Coast
Allan Hancock College
Kate Ferguson with imortgage
More Office Solutions
Student Transportation of America
I'd also like to thank two supporters who stepped up most generously to lead the Fund A Need donation drive during the dinner. We greatly appreciate the support of Raye Vega from CHAMPION Real Estate and Student Transportation of America, represented by Don Kissell.
Lastly, I need to specially recognize Altrusa International Foundation of Golden Valley for providing Shoes for Students with a $1,500 grant in 2016. The grant money will help us reach even more children in need.
Thank you to all of our sponsors, volunteers and supporters who helped make the 2016 tournament and dinner fundraiser so successful. None of what Shoes for Students does would be possible without your help and commitment. Thank you for caring about the children in our community. We hope you join us again next year as we raise money to keep our important work moving forward.

WHO DOESN'T NEED FREE GAS?!?
If you want to sell tickets and help Shoes for Students raise money, call Sandi at 406-4840. She can make sure you have tickets on hand.
If you'd like to buy some tickets, contact Maggie at 361-8113 or anyone on the SOS committee. Many people in the real estate and school district communities have tickets for sale. You can even get a group of friends together to buy tickets and then split the gas cards if you win.

Gas raffle tickets will also be for sale the day of the tournament/dinner.

It is hard to believe that time has gone by so quickly and we are starting to talk about our 14th Annual Shoes For Students Golf Tournament. We are excited that we will be making some changes this year to ensure that we keep things updated and exciting for all our wonderful participants and supporters! We are working to expand our committee this year and will be starting our meetings on Wednesday, April 2, 2014. If you know someone who would be a fit for our team, please let us know! We intend to have fun while creating yet another successful event!
The 13th Annual Shoes For Students Golf Tournament Fundraiser is now one for the books. The day started out a little foggy and misty, but cleared up early and the sun shined brightly upon the course all day! The Orcutt Academy High School Choral Ensemble started off the day with an amazing rendition of the National Anthem. Our hole sponsors did a great job of entertaining the golfers with lots of drinks, food and fun games. Our Happy Hour created a great transition from golf to the evening program. Dinner was served and our live auction moved into full swing. The silent auction consisted of over 60 items this year due to the generosity of so many.
Our corporate sponsors stepped up in a major way this year and we are so grateful for their willingness to contribute. A lot of coordinating and hard work went into the event and at the end of the day we raised a substantial amount of money for the kids in our local schools. Stay tuned for the total amount raised- we know it will put a lot of shoes on children's feet!
About 15 years ago, I went to some friends and said "what do you think about us raising some money to buy shoes for kids who don't have them". We put our heads together and came up with a plan that we approached the Santa Maria Association of Realtors with. They joined on board immediately, and Shoes for Students was born.
