This year will be Shoes for Students' 20th annual golf tournament (ok, there was one year that we skipped since the tournament chairperson was organizing a wedding instead of a day of golf, but we won't mention that). All we will say is that there have been 19 amazing tournaments that have raised more than $700,000 for local students in need in the Santa Maria Valley.

And we are going to do it again in 2020!

We are looking for some great ideas or themes to help us celebrate our 20th tournament. Put your thinking caps on, get creative and let us know how YOU think we should mark 20 years of fun and fundraising for local children in need of shoes and clothes. The months since the last tournament have seen some of our greatest numbers of requests for shoes and clothing gift cards from local schools and agencies. We definitely need a strong, successful fundraising tournament to keep helping as many children as we can in the Santa Maria Valley. We hope you will join us as a golfer, sponsor, volunteer or supporter to make the 19th annual Shoes for Students golf tournament the best yet.

Hi golfers, sponsors, supporters and folks who like to have FUN! The Shoes for Students Golf Tournament is set for Sunday, September 11, 2016, at the Santa Maria Country Club. Mark your calendars!

Our golf tournament committee, the great people who make the day run smoothy, has started meeting. If you'd like to help out, volunteer on the day of the event, or just share some ideas to make the tournament great, please call me, Maggie White, at (805) 361-8113.

If you can think of a business, organization or individual who might become a new sponsor or supporter of SOS and the tournament, please let me know as well.

And, we are always looking for more golfers who want to join us at one of the most fun tournaments on the Central Coast.

By working together, we can make the 2016 tournament the best yet and raise money to keep providing shoes, clothes and other necessities to children in the Santa Maria Valley.

It is hard to believe that time has gone by so quickly and we are starting to talk about our 14th Annual Shoes For Students Golf Tournament.  We are excited that we will be making some changes this year to ensure that we keep things updated and exciting for all our wonderful participants and supporters!  We are working to expand our committee this year and will be starting our meetings on Wednesday, April 2, 2014.  If you know someone who would be a fit for our team, please let us know!  We intend to have fun while creating yet another successful event!
